When games are released for a new PS4 4K Game capable console those disks would have to be readable on older PS4s.1. ![]() Provisions are made for a game disk to have it's own DRM and support BDA authorized disks that can not be used for UHD Blu-ray. I believe any drive newer than 2011 can read a BDXL disk which means with firmware update the PS4 drives should be able to read a 66 and 99 GB disk. This may or may not just require a firmware update. Likely this requires HDCP 2.2 encryption and complying with new Trusted Platform Module 2.0 standard for securely fetching Keys Older drives can not support this.Įmbedded/Game Consoles did not require a licence for pairing over the USB, I do not know if this is still true, White list server or key server, it still has to follow the other requirement to have a UHD and HD mode triggered by a header read in the normal way. A PC drive needs a BDA licence and the manufacturer must support a white page server and a Key server for pairing on the USB and eSATA bus. This keeps a HD player from being able to read the disk or media on a UHD disk and the reverse. I got Batman Vs Superman UHD which the drive will read the file system but not play yet. Hi, I have been looking myself for a player, I recently got the LG WH14NS40 BDXL drive (which was manufactured in March 2016) and a 4k monitor. Can you please test this for me? I don't own a UHD Blu Ray yet. I received a reply from Leawo and they said the latest version of Leawo Blu Ray player supports UHD Blu ray playback. The drive is LG WH16NS40 Super Multi Blue Internal SATA 16x Blu-ray Disc Rewriter and I picked it up off of amazon. The drive I bought I bought specifically because it was said to support 4k, but unfortunately I don't think anyone is really working on the encryption yet. I tested just now with batman vs superman 4k to re-verify. Obviously they won't play as they are encrypted, but the drive recognizes it and navigates it fine. My drive opens them fine and I can navigate the file structure and click on the m2ts files in the streams folder just fine. ![]()
